Personal Statement
The C.A. Pound Human Identification Lab accepts cases consisting of skeletal remains from submitting agencies from around the state of Florida and United States in order to provide accurate biographical information and clinical assessments of pathological condition and traumatic injury. Biographic data and individuating characteristics are visualized grossly, microscopically and metrically determined using standards established within the sub-fields of forensic anthropology, pathology and radiology. Search and recovery is provided to law enforcement agencies and medical examiners offices who request recovery of human remains from field and other settings. Collaborative research with other programs within anthropology and other college units serves as a cornerstone for developing new methods and techniques in forensic applications.
